23rd Annual Construct Walk Takes Place on Sunday, Oct 16

(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – The 23rd annual Construct Walk takes place on Sunday, October 16, 2011, beginning at Ski Butternut on Route 23 and ending at Construct’s offices and shelter at 41 Mahaiwe St., in downtown Great Barrington, to raise funds to help provide emergency services for those families and individuals living in the southern Berkshires who have found themselves marginalized.

Registration is at 12:30 p.m. and the walkathon begins at 1 p.m.. Three hundred and fifty people are expected to join the walk, many carrying signs identifying their teams or showing empathy for those who have been forced to turn to Construct for help. Company teams, school teams, families, friends, and neighbors having raised money from others typically participate in a strong show of community support.

All proceeds from the walkathon will benefit Construct?s Emergency Services. Construct received nearly 5,000 calls this past year, a significant increase over previous years. To meet this high volume brought on by the housing crisis and the soaring unemployment rate, Construct needs strong support from the community. To register in the walk, pick up donation papers at Construct?s office or download them from Construct Inc..

Construct Inc. is a 43-year-old 501(c)3 organization that offers shelter, low income housing, counseling, financial training and support and help, job placement services, GED courses and emergency support.
