Mahaiwe Invites Public to Design “Dream Season”

Could Bob Dylan perform at the Mahaiwe? Turn your dreams into reality

(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – Members of the public are invited to submit their nominations for  a “dream season” schedule of any seven performers – living or dead – whom they would love to see on the stage of the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center.

A winner of the “Mahaiwe Mix” Dream Season Contest will be selected at random to receive a pair of tickets to all live Mahaiwe Presents 2012 events, including Mavis Staples, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Paul Winter Consort, China’s Jin Xing Dance Theatre, and others.

Every year, the Mahaiwe presents everything from rock, folk, Broadway, and country music legends to modern and international dance companies to opera and dramatic stars to comedy and family fare.

“The ‘Mahaiwe Mix’ is characterized by extraordinary and diverse talents showcased in our intimate jewel box of a theater,” said Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center executive director Beryl Jolly. “We strive to provide meaningful, memorable entertainment for everyone in our community. This contest is a way to both celebrate the adventurous spirit of the Mahaiwe’s programming and to hear from our community about the kinds of performers that truly excite and inspire them.”

Mavis Staples

To enter the contest, entrants are invited to make a list of seven artists from a variety of styles and eras that they think would make for a fabulous Mahaiwe Mix season and say why they chose each one.

Entries should be sent to contest@mahaiwe.org by Sunday, January 15, 2012.  The Mahaiwe will share a selection of the most interesting submissions with the public.
