Arts Festival to Feature Plays, Songwriters, Poets, Film, Dance

Boston's Abbie Barrett will take part in a singer-songwriter festival at Mission Bar + Tapas on February 16, 2012

(PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – 10X10 On North, a winter contemporary arts festival kicking off next week in downtown Pittsfield, will feature performances and events for ten days spanning visual art, dance, film, music, theater, and poetry.

Barrington Stage Company will present the 10X10 On North New Play Festival; the Beacon Cinema in tandem with Berkshire International Film Festival will host a Smartphone Film Festival; Berkshire Actors Theatre will stage One Man Show 10X10, featuring one actor portraying 10 characters in 10 minutes, at Ferrin Gallery, which will also host Burlesque 10X10, a 10-minute performance piece including poetry, dance, music and the history of burlesque.

Also, 10x10x25, an exhibition of 10 new works of art by 10 artists, will be at Gallery 25; TEN SPOT, a show of new work by ten contemporary artists including Ven Voisey, Melissa Lillie and Sean Riley of North Adams; Marianne Petit and Brent Whitney of Adams; Richard Britell, Joe Goodwin and Olive Thomas of Pittsfield; Bart Arnold of Lenox and Kiki Dufault of Great Barrington; 10 Singer-Songwriters at Mission Bar + Tapas, including Abbie Barrett (Feb. 16), Billy Keane (Feb. 17), Chris Merenda (Feb. 18), Melissa Brinton (Feb. 19), Glenn Geiger (Feb. 20), Jenna Moynihan (Feb. 21), Justin Allen (Feb. 22), Tom Gizzi (Feb. 23), Emily Mure (Feb. 24), Chris Vecchia (Feb. 25), Heather Maloney (Feb. 26).

And Known Unknowns, an interactive game show, will take place at New Stage Performing Arts Center; 10 Minute Tangos at Pittsfield Bra & Girl; Local Ink, featuring 10X10 graphic stories by local artists Phil Bastow, Eamonn Berry, Michael Bushey, Joe Wilk, and others, at Shawn’s Barber Shop; and 10 Poets, including Gabriel Squailia (Feb. 16), James Burden (Feb. 17), Matt McFadden (Feb. 18), Matt Bialer (Feb. 19), Greer Hed (Feb. 20), Emily Pulfer-Terino (Feb. 21), Jim Benson (Feb. 22), Cynthia Quinones (Feb. 23), Curtis Asch (Feb. 25) and Kate Abbott (Feb. 26), at Y Bar.
