Berkshires Gets Authorized Apple Store

(PITTSFIELD, Mass,) – And all throughout the land, there was great rejoicing – at least among fans of Apple Inc. products including iMacs, MacBooks, iPods and iPods. After years of waiting, Mad Macs, Inc., Berkshire County’s only Apple Authorized Service Provider, has gained the designation  of Apple Authorized Reseller, meaning customers can walk into a locally owned and operated storefront and walk out with Apple stuff.

Primarily an Apple computer services and support business for the last 13 years, Mad Macs added retail sales with its move and expansion to 317 North Street, primarily offering accessories for Apple products.

Now, after months of working with Apple, Inc. of Cupertino, Calif., Mad Macs has been awarded the coveted and prestigious reseller designation, allowing the store to sell brand new Apple products including computers, media players, Apple-designed televisions, and, eventually, tablets such as the iPad.

“This designation will allow our business to meet a major objective in bringing Apple sales to the Berkshires. It was our plan when we moved our store to North Street to get an Apple computer sales authorization,” said Scott Kirchner, president of Mad Macs.

Kirchner pointed out that until now, most of the storefront retail sales of Apple products by Berkshire consumers took place in Albany or Holyoke, hurting the local economy. “Now local consumers can save time and cost by shopping here locally for all their Apple computer needs,” said Kirchner.

On Monday, April 2, 2012, Mad Macs will launch a limited Apple product selection on its shelves, with more to follow later in the month. In addition to Apple computer products, customers can expect iPods, Apple TV, and many Apple branded accessories. They will not be carrying iPhone, but hope to add the iPad product line by fall 2012.

Mad Macs hours are Mon-Fri, 9-5pm; Saturdays 10-1pm.
