Canadian Comic Ophira Eisenberg Performs at MASS MoCA

(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – Hailing from Alberta, Canada, and now based out of New York City, comedian and storyteller Ophira Eisenberg performs at MASS MoCA on Saturday, August 18, at 8 p.m., for an Alt Cabaret performance on the Club B-10 stage, in conjunction with Oh, Canada, the cultural laboratory’s year-long salute to contemporary Canadian art and culture. Eisenberg is a regular on The Moth, a New York City-based nonprofit organization that conducts live storytelling events, and can frequently be found performing stand-up at many of the city’s comedy clubs.

Calgary-bred Eisenberg has garnered many awards, including being named one of New York Magazine’s “Top 100 Comics that Funny People Find Funny”. She has made appearances on Comedy Central, VH-1, Fox, E! Channel, CNN, Oxygen Network, and the Discovery Channel, and she had her own comedy special on CTV’s Comedy Now. She performed at the Halifax Comedy Festival in Nova Scotia, and she is the host of NPR’s new trivia and puzzle show Ask Me Another. Eisenberg’s writing is featured in I Killed: True Stories of the Road from America’s Top Comics along with that of Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Dennis Miller, and Joan Rivers; Rejected: Tales of the Failed, Dumped, and Canceled; and Heeb Magazine’s Sex, Drugs, and Gelfite Fish. In 2014, her debut memoir, Screw Everyone: Sleeping My Way to Monogamy, will be released.

MASS MoCA presents several Canadian performing artists this summer in conjunction with Oh, Canada, the largest survey of Canadian contemporary art outside Canada to date, with over 110 works by 62 artists on display in MASS MoCA’s galleries. Broken Social Scene’s Toronto-based Brendan Canning was the DJ for the opening celebration and Montreal’s Patrick Watson performs on June 30.

Tickets for the event are $12 in advance, $16 day of show, or $10 for students. MASS MoCA members receive a 10% discount. Tickets are available through the MASS MoCA Box Office located off Marshall Street in North Adams, open from 10 AM to 6 PM (every day) beginning June 21.
