(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Roll over, rock ‘n’ roll. Helsinki Hudson will soon be an outpost of top Broadway musical theater talent, when Tony Award-winner Faith Prince (Guys and Dolls) and L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award-winner Jason Graae kick off a new cabaret series, Helsinki on Broadway, on Sunday, August 26, 2012, at 7 p.m.
Other stars performing in the series include Brent Barrett (Sept 9); Dee Hoty (Sept 23); Ann Hampton Callaway (Oct 14); and Charles Busch (Nov 11). All shows in the Helsinki on Broadway series are on Sundays at 7pm.
The appearance by Faith Prince and Jason Graae is billed as “The Prince and the Showboy.” Veterans of thirteen Broadway shows between them, the pair will perform their most requested and memorable Broadway tunes. The show features a heartfelt tribute to legendary Broadway composer Jerry Herman (Hello Dolly, Mame), who has been a significant influence on each of them, both personally and professionally. Prince and Graae are equally noted for their humor as for their vocal chops, and the opening night of the series is sure to bring the stars out, in every sense of the term.
The Helsinki on Broadway series will afford fans of Broadway musical theater and cabaret an unprecedented opportunity to see the top stars of today in an intimate, cabaret setting on Helsinki Hudson’s state-of-the-art stage at a fraction of the cost of tickets on the Great White Way or in city nightclubs.
Brent Barrett’s program on September 9 is “Night Songs,” a night-themed evening of Broadway tunes. Dee Hoty, who boasts Tony Award nominations for her starring roles in The Will Rogers Follies, The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public and Footloose, performs “Special Material” – “an often funny, sometimes poignant and occasionally downright irreverent look at her life and loves, on and off stage” — on September 23.
Dinner reservations before the show at 5pm or following the show in The Restaurant at 8:30pm are available at 518.828.4800.
