(STOCKBRIDGE, Mass.) – – The Red Lion Inn Gift Shop will be hosting five Berkshire artists for the second Meet the Artist reception on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 4pm in the Side Parlor of The Red Lion Inn. Visitors may chat with any of the featured artists, who will be on hand to discuss their creative process and showcase their work. The artists whose work will be featured include Peg & Frank Biscotti, jewelry designers; Janet McKinstry, textile artist and author; J.D. Logan, contemporary folk artist; Kevin O’Hara, author; and Katherine Winston, singer songwriter. There will be a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres provided by The Red Lion Inn. The “Meet the Artist” series will resume in November 2013 and continue through April 2014.

More on the artists:

Peg & Frank Biscotti, jewelry designers: Peg Biscotti works with husband Frank Biscotti to create handmade, quality jewelry. They design necklaces, bracelets, and earrings from a variety of semi-precious stones such as lapis, garnet, jade, amethyst, cultured pearls, and jasper.

Janet McKinstry, textile artist and author: her unique background in art from The Fashion Institute of Technology with a Master’s of Divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological School helps Janet McKinstry her fill her creations with life and character. Creating art is an evolving process and no two of her creations is the same.

J.D. Logan, contemporary folk artist: J.D. Logan began painting in 1998 after a serious injury to his left hand forced him to set aside his lifelong passion: playing guitar. His work is simple yet complex, peaceful, and surreal. Intentionally leaving people and animals out of his work, he allows the viewer to place themselves into the painting and have a “moment of solitude.”

Kevin O’Hara, author: Author of A Lucky Irish Lad and Last of the Donkey Pilgrims, O’Hara was the recipient of the 2012 John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Award, presented to an outstanding American of Irish descent who has distinguished him or herself in their chosen profession.

2013-04-meet-the-artists-02bKatherine Winston, singer songwriter: Katherine has been playing and singing since she was about 11 years old, and started playing in public about 2 years ago. (She plays the guitar and mandolin while singing, but often her father will accompany her on the guitar, and she also sings with the band Karma Fund, and collaborates with some other artists once in a while.) She sings mostly acoustic, jazz, country, and indie, but also plays different arrangements of rock and many other genres.
