(STOCKBRIDGE, Mass.) – Sohn Fine Art Gallery is featuring 19 artists in the second annual Community Arts Exhibition running through Sunday, April 22, 2013. There will be a public reception on Saturday, April 20, from 4 to 7pm at which winners of the “People’s Choice Award” will be announced. This year’s annual juried show will benefit Chesterwood (A National Trust Historic Site), also located in Stockbridge.

Artists featured in the exhibition are Jerry Arcieri, Stephanie Arnett, Patrick Barry, Matt Bialer, Steve Blanchard, Denise Chandler, John Clarke, Gene Elling, Diane Firtell, Hildy Kronen, Sophia Lee, Eric Levin, Leo Mazzeo, Anne Mourier-Defalco, Stephanie Owyang, Elaine Radiss, Uli Rose, Susan Sabino, and John Trimarchi.

With an array of photographic genres, this exhibition has something for everyone. The photos range from an impressionistic abstract forest “Path” by John Clarke and a hand-colored, mixed media, shadowy nude by Hildy Kronen to conceptual work like Stephanie Arnett’s piece “Vanitas for America” about religion, politics and poetry. You will also find unexpected visual combinations, like a baby’s crib inside a mechanics garage in Gene Elling’s “Industrial Lullaby” and a sanitary still life of a chicken foot on a white cloth by Anne Mourier-Defalco. Fans of more traditional work will enjoy Denise Chandler’s “Dancing Poppy” or Matt Bialer’s multi-layered, New York City street photography scene.

The show was judged by Donna Hassler (executive director of Chesterwood), Kathryn Price (curator of special projects at Williams College Museum of Art) and Cassandra Sohn (photographer and owner of Sohn Fine Art). The collaborative nature of this exhibition is a testament to Sohn Fine Art’s mission to integrate Community, Arts and Education and to promote broader understanding of and community engagement with photographic mediums through exhibitions, workshops and lectures.

The reception on Saturday, April 20, 4- 7pm, is free and open to the public. Winners will be announced at 6pm. Visit the Gallery on or before this date to vote for the “People’s Choice Award”.  First Place winner will receive free attendance to Cassandra Sohn’s Photography Workshop, “Portraits, Landscapes and Place”. This workshop is presented by Sohn Fine Art and Chesterwood and will take place on location at Chesterwood on August 26, 27 and 28.
