NOAH BAUMBACH, GRETA GERWIG, DARLENE LOVE AT 8TH ANNUAL BERKSHIRE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

(GREAT BARRINGTON and PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – Noah Baumbach’s new movie, “Frances Ha,” is among the over 75 films that will be screened at the eighth annual Berkshire International Film Festival (BIFF), taking place from May 30 to June 2, 2013, in Great Barrington and May 31 to June 2 in Pittsfield. Baumbach, as well as co-writer and actress Greta Gerwig, will be in attendance at the festival-closing screening, which will include a Q&A moderated by artist and Berkshire resident Gregory Crewdson, and which will be followed by a closing night party at Castle Street Café. Legendary girl-group singer Darlene Love will be in attendance for the opening night film, “Twenty Feet from Stardom,” profiling the rock era’s overlooked backup singers.

NEW PAINTINGS by MICHAEL ROUSSEAU at yBAR

(PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – More than 40 new oil paintings by Berkshire artist Michael Rousseau will be on display at yBar in downtown Pittsfield from Saturday, June 1, 2013 through Sunday, June 30 in an exhibition titled Salon Style. The collection of work reflects a four-year, self-guided exploration by the artist into the many facets of oil painting, including an in-depth study of materials and techniques employed by painters from the High Renaissance to modern masters. There will be two opening receptions for the show: Friday, June 7, 2013, from 5pm to midnight, and Thursday, June 20, from from 5-10pm.

Miller-Tysen-200BSC CABARET OPENS with MILLER & TYSEN

(PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – Mr. Finn’s Cabaret, named after William Finn, the Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist of Falsettos and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and artistic producer of Barrington Stage Company’s Musical Theatre Lab, kicks off on Friday and Saturday, June 1-2, with the award-winning songwriting team of Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen performing songs from their shows in We Made That. The duo wrote The Burnt Part Boys and The Mysteries of Harris Burdick for the Musical Theatre Lab, from which they will draw for their performance, as well as songs from their new musical, Tuck Everlasting.
