NOAH BAUMBACH, GRETA GERWIG, DARLENE LOVE AT 8TH ANNUAL BERKSHIRE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

(GREAT BARRINGTON and PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – Noah Baumbach’s new movie, “Frances Ha,” is among the over 75 films that will be screened at the eighth annual Berkshire International Film Festival (BIFF), taking place from May 30 to June 2, 2013, in Great Barrington and May 31 to June 2 in Pittsfield. Baumbach, as well as co-writer and actress Greta Gerwig, will be in attendance at the festival-closing screening, which will include a Q&A moderated by artist and Berkshire resident Gregory Crewdson, and which will be followed by a closing night party at Castle Street Café. Legendary girl-group singer Darlene Love will be in attendance for the opening night film, “Twenty Feet from Stardom,” profiling the rock era’s overlooked backup singers.

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds bring their old-school, horn-inflected soul and R&B to Club Helsinki Hudson on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 9pm. The Brooklyn-based, eight-piece outfit, fronted by Catskill Mountains native Arleigh Kincheloe aka Sister Sparrow, and featuring her brother Jackson Kincheloe on harmonica and cousin Bram Kincheloe on drums, plays a gritty, Southern style of soul that’s been garnering raves for its live appearances at festivals including Bonnaroo, Mountain Jam, Gathering of the Vibes, moe.down, and the Voodoo Experience, as well as shared appearances with Counting Crows, Avett Brothers, Govt’ Mule, Rebirth Brass Band and Donald Fagen.

The show includes photographs by Chad Kleitsch, Jeri Eisenberg, Betsy Weis, Lynn Butler and Lori Van Houten and paintings by Patty Neal, James O’Shea and Bruce Murphy There will be an artist’s reception open to the public on Saturday, June 1, 2013, from 6 to 8pm.
