Wassaic Project MillWASSAIC PROJECT LAUNCHES 6th ANNUAL SEASON

(WASSAIC, N.Y.) – The artist-run Wassaic Project, a multidisciplinary arts organization located within reclaimed agricultural buildings in the hamlet of Wassaic, N.Y., will present Homeward Found, an exhibition of works by over 80 emerging artists, as part of its summer season. The Wassaic Project Summer Festival, a three-day celebration of art, music and community, will showcase over 100 artists, 25 bands, film screenings, dance events, and a new performance art series, taking place Friday, August 2 through Sunday, August 4. Opening Saturday, June 15, 2013, with a ticketed preview party, Homeward Found will be based in the one-of-a-kind Maxon Mills, a renovated, seven-story grain elevator. Every Saturday and Sunday, beginning Sunday, June 16, and running through Sunday, September 2, 2013, from noon to 5 pm, visitors can view bold contemporary paintings, sculpture, videos and intricate installations free of charge.

PS21 KICKS OFF SEASON with BACH

(CHATHAM, N.Y.) – PS21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century kicks off its 2013 performance season with the eighth annual Paul Grunberg Memorial Bach Concert on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 7:30pm. This all-Bach program features Eugene Drucker on violin and Marija Stroke on piano, performing one unaccompanied work for each instrument and two together: D Minor Partita for solo violin; Keyboard Partita in B flat Major; and piano-violin sonatas in F Minor and E Major.

(CROTON-on-HUDSON, N.Y.) – Gospel legend Mavis Staples, folksinger Judy Collins, country icon Kris Kristofferson, roots musician David Bromberg and blues-rockers Hot Tuna headline this year’s edition of Clearwater’s Great Hudson River Revival, which takes place Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16, 2013, at Croton Point Park, N.Y. Also on the bill are R&B sensations Sharon Jones and Dap-Kings, Americana rockers Son Volt, Drive-By Truckers, bluegrass stars the Travelin’ McCourys, jam-band artists Steve Kimock and Keller Williams, Afrobeat stars Antibalas, Bhangra brass outfit Red Baraat, Native American artists Buffy Sainte-Marie and Joanne Shenandoah, roots-soul vocalist Martha Redbone, and, of course, the living legend behind the whole festival, Pete Seeger, will also perform, among others.

ROCK ‘N’ ROLL THEME PARTY DEBUTS at HALF MOON

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Raucous garage-punk trio Cheap Time will headline the first installment of SmashCrashBash, a semi-regular, rock ’n’ roll-themed party at the newly reopened Half Moon in Hudson, on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at 8pm. Hailing from Tennessee, Cheap Time has been around since 2006 and is hitting Hudson between dates opening for Social Distortion and Mudhoney. SmashCrashBash will feature live performances by hand-picked touring bands; DJs spinning the best in punk, garage, vintage glam, rock ’n’ roll, and old-school soul and R&B for dancing and screaming pleasure; and wild and weird visual projections.

ASTON MAGNA’S 2013 SEASON to INCLUDE WORKS by BACH, MARAIS, and MONTEVERDI

(ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.) – Pioneering early-music presenter Aston Magna marks its 41st year with five concerts on Friday evenings, June 14, 21, and 28, and July 5 and 12 at 8 p.m. in Olin Hall at Bard College. The season’s repertoires includes works by Bach, Marais, Handel, Vivaldi, and Monteverdi among others. A preconcert lecture by Daniel Stepner will be featured one hour before each concert, and audience members are invited to “Meet the Artists” after the concerts. Concerts will also take place on Saturdays, June 15 and 22 and July 6 and 13, at the Daniel Arts Center at Bard College at Simon’s Rock, in Great Barrington, Mass., at 6 p.m.; at Slosberg Auditorium at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., on Thursday evenings, June 13, 20 and 27, and July 4 and 11 at 8 p.m; and at the Mahaiwe in Great Barrington on Saturday, June 29 at 8 p.m.
