PARSONS DANCE CELEBRATES ELLSWORTH KELLY’S 90th BIRTHDAY at PS21
(CHATHAM, N.Y.) – Parsons Dance Company previews EK90, a newly commissioned dance work celebrating artist Ellsworth Kelly’s 90th birthday, at PS21 on Friday and Saturday, August 30 and 31, 2013, at 8pm. The program also includes Nascimento Novo, Brothers, Ebben, and Caught. These two special evening performances bring down the curtain on the PS21 2013 season under the tent at 2980 Route 66 in the town of Chatham.
WILLIAM FINN INTRODUCES NEW BROADWAY TALENTS at BARRINGTON STAGE CABARET
(PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – The eighth annual edition of Songs by Ridiculously Talented Composers and Lyricists You Probably Don’t Know But Should…, a cabaret hosted by Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist William Finn (Falsettos, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) featuring works by a new generation of Broadway songwriting talent, takes place at Barrington Stage on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 8pm. SPENCERTOWN FESTIVAL of BOOKS CELEBRATES LITERARY EXCELLENCE and SPOKEN WORD
(SPENCERTOWN, N.Y.) — Verlyn Klinkenborg, Peter Biskind, Taylor Mali, Charles Dubow and Hugh Howard are featured authors at this year’s Spencertown Academy Arts Center’s Festival of Books, taking place over Labor Day weekend, August 30 through September 2, 2013. The festival features a giant used book sale, two days of readings and book signings by nationally known and local authors, and a children’s program. UKULELE VIRTUOSO LEADS CONCERT, WORKSHOP
(SHEFFIELD, Mass.) – Ukulele virtuoso and singer-songwriter James Hill teams up with cellist Anne Davison for a duo concert at Dewey Memorial Hall on Sunday, September 1, 2013, at 7:30pm. The duo’s recording, True Love Don’t Weep, was named Traditional Album of the Year by the 2009 Canadian Folk Music Awards. Hill, who always combines concert appearances with music instruction, will conduct an intermediate level “Swing Ukulele” workshop earlier that day at 3pm at The Magic Fluke Uke Shop.
