Illustrator Zohar Lazar Gets Showcase at Hudson Opera House

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – An exhibition of drawings by illustrator Zohar Lazar, a frequent contributor to the New Yorker, the New York Times Sunday Magazine, Rolling Stone, Esquire, GQ, and numerous other publications, goes on display in the Center Hall Gallery at the Hudson Opera House on Saturday, October 5, 2013, and will remain through December 7. An opening reception takes place on Saturday, October 5, from 6 to 8 pm.

Zohar Lazar was born in Israel and grew up in New York City. He studied figure drawing at the Art Student’s League throughout high school and later attended Parsons School of Design, majoring in illustration. He has been illustrating professionally since 1997. He has also worked on several book covers for Simon and Schuster and counts Weiden and Kennedy and 2×4 amongst his many clients.

Lazar also created the cover and interior images for They Might Be Giants album “The Spine.”  He taught at School of Visual Arts in the illustration department from 2006 to 2009. His paintings have been exhibited in Great Barrington, Mass., at Geoffrey Young Gallery and in the New York galleries of Sara Meltzer, Jeff Bailey, Morgan Lehman and Andrea Meislin. He is currently working on a graphic novel titled “Spook Rock,” to be published by Fantagraphics. He has lived in Columbia County with his family since 2001.
