MATISYAHU BRINGS SPIRITUAL REGGAE-ROCK BACK to CLUB HELSINKI HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Almost a year to the day that he last performed there, Grammy Award-nominated reggae-rock performer Matisyahu brings his annual “Festival of Light” tour to Club Helsinki Hudson on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at 8pm. Fresh from tours of Mexico, South America and Israel, the spiritual seeker and beat-boxing phenomenon will perform Hanukkah-themed songs as well as material spanning his entire career.

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Melange, an exhibition of works by a half-dozen artists, many of them from the greater region and several of them featuring landscapes, opens at Carrie Haddad Gallery on Thursday, December 12, 2013, and runs through Sunday, January 19, 2014. (ANNANDALE-on-HUDSON, N.Y.) – Elephant Room, a comedy and magic show starring illusionists Dennis Diamond, Marcus Pocus, and Daryl Hannah, will be staged at the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College on Friday, December 13, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. (with a post-performance discussion with the cast and Gideon Lester, director of theater programs); Saturday, December 14 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, December 15 at 2 p.m. Filled with off-the-wall magic and sublime comedy, Elephant Room examines the childlike wonder of three deluded illusionists who choose to live their off-center lives by sleight of hand.
R&B SINGER JUDITH HILL BRINGS ORIGINAL SOUL to CLUB HELSINKI HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – R&B singer-songwriter Judith Hill, star of the TV reality show “The Voice” and the documentary film “Twenty Feet from Stardom,” brings her original blend of pop, soul and jazz to Club Helsinki Hudson on Friday, December 13, at 9pm. Hill was slated to sing backup on Michael Jackson’s ill-fated comeback tour; instead, she wound up singing at his memorial service. Since that time, Hill has toured the world as part of Stevie Wonder’s band. Hill was one of several backup vocalists profiled in the critically acclaimed documentary, “Twenty Feet from Stardom.”

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – EX-MAS Winter Market, an independent pop-up fair featuring handmade gifts, crafts, and collections curated by the region’s finest artisans and vendors and presented by Hudson River Exchange, takes place Saturday and Sunday, December 14-15, 2013, from 11am to 5pm across from 7th Street Park (between Warren and Columbia Streets) at 704 Columbia Street (downstairs from WGXC Community Radio).
