Aoife O’Donovan Brings Rootsy Folk-Pop to Club Helsinki Hudson

Aoife O'Donovan(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Singer-songwriter Aoife O’Donovan brings her rootsy folk-pop to Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, February 22, at 9pm. O’Donovan returns to Helsinki Hudson after kicking off a whirlwind summer tour here last June. From Helsinki Hudson, O’Donovan went on to perform at festival stages and such esteemed venues as Tanglewood and the Grand Ole Opry.

Last June at Helsinki Hudson, O’Donovan celebrated the release of her newest album, “Fossils,” which was chosen as the New York Times‘ album of the week for its exclusive “Press Play” streaming feature. In a review of her album, local music critic Seth Rogovoy wrote, “O’Donovan comes across as a hip, enigmatic younger sister of Shawn Colvin.”

Best known as the lead singer and songwriter of the alt-bluegrass band Crooked Still for the last 10 years, the Boston native – the former lead singer of Wayfaring Strangers, one-third of the female folk-noir trio Sometymes Why, and graduate of New England Conservatory — now calls Brooklyn home.
