(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – Water Songs: Ha Tay G’am, a new live music and video project exploring the profound history of the Colorado River, featuring compositions by John Luther Adams, William Brittelle, Shara Worden, Sarah Kirkland Snider, and Paola Prestini performed by Grammy Award-winning choral group Roomful of Teeth, will receive a work-in-progress staging in the Hunter Center at MASS MoCA on Saturday, March 1, at 8pm.
NORTH MISSISSIPPI ALLSTARS BRING SOUTHERN ROCK and BLUES to HELSINKI HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – The Grammy Award-nominated North Mississippi Allstars bring their blues-infused rock ‘n’ roll to Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, March 2, at 8pm. Brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson, sons of the late, legendary Memphis musician and producer Jim Dickinson (whose credits include Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones), form the core of North Mississippi Allstars, which was founded in 1996. Right out of the gate, their 2000 debut album, “Shake Hands With Shorty,” garnered them a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues album. Two more nominations followed in the same category for subsequent recordings.
ABSURDIST PLAY to SHED LIGHT on ARTIST’S PROCESS at MASS MoCA
(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – The Interview, written by artist Guillaume Leblon with curator and critic Thomas Boutoux, will be given a staged reading in Club B-10 at MASS MoCA on Thursday, February 27, at 6pm. The short play takes the format of an interview, centering around Leblon’s desire to produce a non-traditional text on his work. The absurdist play ultimately becomes that text, offering insight into Leblon’s own practice. Attendees can meet the artist following the reading, which will feature two New York-based actors.

THE BIG TAKEOVER CELEBRATES NEW SKA-REGGAE RELEASE at HELSINKI HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Upstate New York’s own ska-reggae group, the Big Takeover, celebrates the release of its new recording, “Children of the Rhythm,” with a release party at Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, March 1, at 9pm. The group’s third album, “Children of the Rhythm” boasts the band’s signature blend of upbeat, horn-inflected ska, deep, funky reggae grooves, soulful melodies, and dub dropouts.
REGIONAL WOMEN WRITERS TO BE SHOWCASED at DEWEY MEMORIAL HALL
(SHEFFIELD, Mass.) – The third annual “Out of the Mouths of Babes” event, part of the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers and featuring readings by a half-dozen female Berkshire writers, will take place on Saturday, March 1, at 7pm, at Dewey Memorial Hall. In addition to readings, the event will feature live music, video, and artwork. Writers include Suzi Banks Baum, Nichole Dupont, Michelle Gillett, Jenny Laird, Janet Reich Elsbach, and Leigh Strimbeck.
