Pianist Pedja Muzijevic to Perform Works by Haydn, Liszt, Chopin and Cage at Williams College

Pedja Muzijevic(WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.) – Pianist Pedja Muzijevic will perform works by Haydn, Liszt, Chopin and John Cage in Brooks Rogers Recital Hall on the Williams College campus on Friday, April 18, 2014, at 8pm. Muzijevic also presides over a master class with Williams College music students on Thursday, April 17, at 4:15pm in Brooks Rogers Recital Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.

For the concert on Friday, Muzijevic’s performance spans three centuries of music for piano. He begins with Haydn’s Sonata in C major, John Cage’s “The Seasons,” two works by Franz Liszt: “Schlaflos! Frage und Antwort” and “Bagatelle sans tonalite,” and Wagner-Liszt “Isolde’s Liebestod.” After a brief intermission, Muzijevic will conclude with 24 Preludes, op. 28 by Frederic Chopin.

Pianist Pedja Muzijevic has defined his 35 year career with creative programming, unusual combinations of new and old music, and lasting collaborations with other artists and ensembles. He has been hailed by critics as a “thinking” musician with engaging stage presence and a gratifying combination of virtuosity and eloquence. The London Financial Times named him “a virtuoso with formidable fingers and a musician with fiercely original ideas about the music he plays.”
