(HUDSON, N.Y.) – A collaboration between world-renowned choreographer Jonah Bokaer and visual artist Anthony McCall, kicks off the 2014 performance season at Basilica Hudson on Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26, at 7:30pm. Eclipse is a multidisciplinary performance that integrates choreography, light, visual design, and an audio-visual time score to arrive at altered ways of viewing a performance.

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Club Helsinki Hudson will take on the aspect of the Buena Vista Social Club when Afro-Cuban jazz pianist Omar Sosa launches a new tour with his New AfroCubano Quartet to the nightclub on Friday, April 25, at 9pm. Joining Sosa in the quartet are drummer Ernesto Simpson, bassist Childo Tomas, and saxophonist Leandro Saint-Hill, who also plays flute.

Verdi in Venice by Boldini hVERDI’S REQUIEM to GET FULL ORCHESTRATION at BARD COLLEGE

(ANNANDALE-on-HUDSON, N.Y.) – Giuseppe Verdi’s monumental work Messa da Requiem will get the complete treatment it deserves when it is performed by a full orchestra and a chorus of more than 100 in the Fisher Center at Bard College on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26, at 8pm. The program is conducted by Leon Botstein, music director, with James Bagwell, chorus master, and features members of the American Symphony Orchestra, Bard College Conservatory Orchestra, Longy Conservatory Orchestra and the Longy Chorale, Bard College Chamber Singers, and Bard Festival Chorale, with Jennifer Check, soprano; Sara Murphy, mezzo-soprano; Brian Cheney, tenor; and Wayne Tigges, baritone.

(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – Works by Liszt, Brahms, and Bartók will be featured in MAGYAR!, a program of Hungarian- and Gypsy-influenced music, at the Mahaiwe on Sunday, April 27, at 3pm, as part of the Close Encounters With Music series of chamber concerts. Musicians include Roma performer Cosmo Gorcsi, on cimbalom – a hammered dulcimer that is the national folk instrument of Hungary – and the concert will also include traditional folk music.
