Bookshop to Reopen on Upper Warren Street

PCP Books(HUDSON, N.Y., June 10, 2014) – Stoddard Corner Bookshop, currently at the corner of Columbia and 8th streets, will be moving next month to 822 Warren Street and reopening under the name Peter Christian Pehrson: Nonfiction Rare, Scholarly, Unique – Books & Manuscripts. The move comes amid a sudden influx of new businesses to the 800 block of Warren, and consolidates all of Hudson’s seven bookshops on the city’s main drag.

Peter Pehrson is the proprietor of Stoddard Corner Bookshop. His rebranded bookshop will specialize in art catalogues, manuscript Americana, biography, ephemera, design, architecture, gardens, interiors, and gastronomy.

“Hudson’s East End (7th St. from Warren north to Green and east to the hospital) continues to develop and burgeon,” says Pehrson. “We have an opportunity to occupy a wonderful bookstore space with a fireplace in the heart of Hudson adjacent to the historic and architecturally significant Folger Mansion. By changing our name, we’re enhancing our brand to reflect accurately our business model, our curated nonfiction inventory, and such specialized customer services as collection development for institutions and the private market.”

For a small town, Hudson boasts an unusual number of shops devoted fully or partly to the collection and sale of books. These include Hudson City Books (553 Warren); Spotty Dog Books & Ale (440 Warren); Hudson Vintage Pulp and Rocket Works (611 Warren, Floor 2); John Doe Record Shoppe (434 Warren); Rural Residence (316 Warren); Verso; and now Peter Christian Pehrson.
