(WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.) – World-renowned soprano Renée Fleming stars in the world premiere of Joe DiPietro’s “Living on Love,” based on the play “Peccadillo” by Garson Kanin, at Williamstown Theatre Festival, running on the Main Stage from Wednesday, July 16, 2014, through Saturday, July 26.

Fleming takes the stage as celebrated diva Raquel De Angelis. When her husband, the fiery and egomaniacal Maestro Vito De Angelis, becomes enamored with the lovely young lady hired to ghostwrite his long-delayed autobiography, Raquel retaliates by hiring her very own — and very handsome — ghostwriter to chronicle her life as an opera star.  As the young writers try to keep themselves out of the story while churning out chapters, the high-energy — and high-maintenance — power duet threatens to fall out of tune for good.

Garson Kanin wrote and directed his last play, “Peccadillo,” in 1985, the same year he was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame. Two-time Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro (“Nice Work if You Can Get It,” “Memphis”), based the work on “Peccadillo.”

The company of “Living on Love” includes Anna Chlumsky (In the Loop, “Veep”), Renée Fleming (Le Nozze di Figaro, La Traviata), Blake Hammond (First Date, Sister Act), Justin Long (WTF’s One Slight Hitch, Seminar), Scott Robertson (Cabaret, Damn Yankees), and Douglas Sills (The Scarlet Pimpernel, Little Shop of Horrors). Three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall (Nice Work If You Can Get It, Anything Goes) directs.
