FESTIVAL BRINGS ALL-STAR MODERN DANCE LINEUP to CATSKILL
(CATSKILL, N.Y.) – An all-star lineup of dance ensembles, including Dorrance Dance, Gallim Dance, KEIGWIN + COMPANY, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Pontus Lidberg Dance are taking part in the second annual Hudson Valley Dance Festival at the Historic Catskill Point on Saturday, October 11, at 5pm. The event is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

JON SPENCER’S HEAVY TRASH to BRING PSYCHOBILLY to HELSINKI HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Psychobilly duo Heavy Trash – featuring singer-guitarist Jon Spencer of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Pussy Galore – will bring its noirish blend of rockabilly, garage punk, alt-country and early rock ‘n’ roll to Club Helsinki Hudson on Thursday, October 9, at 8pm. Bloodshot Bill warms up the crowd for Heavy Trash. In Heavy Trash, Spencer teams up with his pal, singer-bassist Matt Verta-Ray, formerly of New York bands Madder Rose and Speedball Baby. Together, the two create a vintage sound, transporting audiences back to the mid-1950s when by its very nature rock ‘n’ roll was avant-punk – a music ahead of its time. When it’s played as honestly as they play it in Heavy Trash, rock retains as much shock and awe as it had in its early days.

SPOTTY DOG HOSTS REGIONAL WRITER SHOWCASE
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – “Here, Now II: A Reading by Emerging and Established Writers,” featuring readings by six local authors reading unpublished or in-progress works of fiction, non-fiction and poetry, including Richard Boch, Nic Glenn Francis Flood, Dave King, Andrea Kleine, Sonia Pilcer and Amy Rigby, takes place at the Spotty Dog on Friday, October 10, at 7pm.

NEW GALLERY DEBUTS with PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Unframed: Eight Photographers in Exhibition, inaugurates the new NOBO Gallery with works by Craig J. Barber, Karen Davis, Richard Edelman, Jeff Jacobson, Kay Kenny, Elaine Mayes, Carla Shapiro and Ruth Wetzel, beginning Friday, October 10, 2014, and running through Sunday, November 9. There will be a closing reception for the show on Saturday, November 8, from 5 to 8pm.

NEW WORKS GO ON DISPLAY at ART OMI SCULPTURE PARK
(GHENT, N.Y.) – A handful of new works will go on display at Art Omi as part of the 2014 Fall Exhibition, featuring new works in The Fields Sculpture Park and Architecture Omi with a public reception on Sunday, October 12 from 1:30 to 4pm. The fall exhibition features work by Alexandre Arrechea, Jackie Ferrara, Guy Goldstein, Harrison Atelier, Paula Hayes, Catherine Lee, and Joan Linder. At 2pm, Harrison Atelier will present Species Niches 2, a site-specific performance and installation choreographed by James McGinn and composed by Loren Dempster.
