CEWM Chamber Series Opens Season with All-Mozart Program at Mahaiwe

(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – Close Encounters With Music opens its 2014-15 season of chamber music concerts with an all-Mozart program at the Mahaiwe on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 6pm. The program includes Mozart’s Oboe Quartet in F, Flute Quartet in D, the Piano Quartet in E-Flat, the Rondo in A minor for solo piano, and the rarely heard Quintet for Glass Harmonica, the instrument invented by Benjamin Franklin.

Artistic Director and cellist Yehuda Hanani will be joined by violinist Daniel Phillips, first of the Orion String Quartet; violist Xiao-Dong Wang; flutist Tara Helen O’Connor, oboist James Austin Smith, and pianist Roman Rabinovich, winner of the 2008 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv.

Tickets, $45 (Orchestra and Mezzanine) and $25 (Balcony), are available at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center box office, 413.528.0100. Subscriptions are $225 ($195 for seniors) for a series of 6 series concerts PLUS one subscriber-only concert.
