Neshama CarlebachJEWISH SOUL SINGER NESHAMA CARLEBACH to PERFORM at MAHAIWE

(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – Neshama Carlebach, the protege and musical heir of her father, the late Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, who in the 1960s and ‘70s brought an approach to Jewish liturgical music that was steeped in tradition yet utterly contemporary, will perform with her band at the Mahaiwe on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 8pm. The concert, presented by Rimon: Resource Center for Jewish Spirituality, will also feature Rev. Milton Vann and members of the Glory to God Singers, lending the event an ecumenical feel.

(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – Trombonist and composer Craig Harris will lead an ensemble to perform the music of the late Sun Ra, one of the most original voices and visionaries in jazz, at MCLA in the Church Street Center’s Eleanor Furst Roberts Auditorium on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 7:30pm. For this concert, Harris will bring together a group of musicians, including the Dartmouth Barbary Coast Jazz Ensemble, to perform the complex music of Sun Ra, in celebration of the centennial anniversary of Sun Ra’s birth.

INTERACTIVE GAME SHOW ABOUT PITCHING FILMS at MASS MoCA

(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – Project Screenplay, a live-action interactive game show about the art of the pitch, takes place in Club B-10 at MASS MoCA on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at 7pm, as part of the Williamstown Film Festival. The event, hosted by screenwriter Andrew Osborne, will allow the audience to judge whose films get green-lighted, when aspiring screen scribes pitch the audience and act out scenes while industry pros offer tips and advice for bringing a script from page to projector.

(LENOX, Mass.) – WAM Theatre will present the New England premiere of “In Darfur” by Winter Miller at Shakespeare & Company in the Berry Family Studio of the Elayne P. Melora CreagerRASPUTINA’S MELORA CREAGER in NOVEMBER RESIDENCY at HELSINKI HUDSON

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Melora Creager, best known as founder and leader of the historical cello-rock band Rasputina, will be in residence at Club Helsinki Hudson on Mondays in November, in a series called “Mondays with Melora,” featuring her band the Calico Indians plus special guests. The dates are November 3, 10, 17 and 24, at 8pm. Creager, who sings and plays cello and banjo, will be accompanied by Chops LaConte on stand-up bass, Ryder Cooley on musical saw and vocals, and Luis Mojica on piano and vocals and Timothy Oakley on drums. Special guests will include singer-violinist Eszter Balint, Kiki * d, and Wild Boy with Clare Felice.
