(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – Between now and Thursday, November 20, 2014, all those who make contributions to the Rogovoy Report will earn a chance to win a free pair of tickets tickets (a $60 value) to see Josh Ritter at MASS MoCA on Saturday, November 22, at 8pm, as well as receive a signed old-fashioned vinyl record by Ritter. All those who already make a monthly recurring donation to the Rogovoy Report will be included among the potential ticket-winners.
Idaho-native singer and guitarist Josh Ritter has a literary disposition and an affinity for the old-guard likes of Leonard Cohen, Bruce Springsteen, and Paul Simon that led the New York Times to place him “among the cream of the young singer-songwriter crop.” His songs are playfully erudite, equally dense with clever metaphor and whimsical turns of phrase.
Ritter will bring with him to MASS MoCA an intimate acoustic setup to try out new material for an as-yet unnamed forthcoming album. “About six months ago I was hit by a song on the New York Thruway,” he recently wrote. “The whole thing. Verses, bridge, a witty one-liner or two. Nothing like that had ever happened with such force. It was the first raindrop in a thunderstorm that I’m thankful continues unabated. I don’t normally go in for showing songs before they’re fully done, but what the hell, you only live once.”
For every $5 contribution made to the Rogovoy Report, participants will be enrolled in this thank-you giveaway program (every $5 increment counts toward another chance to win, e.g., $50 = 10 chances to win). Please make your contributions using the PayPal “Donate” button to the right of this message.
