Singer/Slam Poet Aja Monet to Perform at MASS MoCA

(NORTH ADAMS, Mass,) – Singer and spoken-word artist Aja Monet, the youngest-ever individual to win New York City’s famed Nuyorican Poets Café Grand Slam Champion title, will perform in Club B-10 at MASS MoCA on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 8pm.

Armed with extraordinary authenticity and a passion for storytelling, Monet announced her presence at age 17 with a team win at the 2005 Brave New Voices Youth National Poetry slam. She quickly followed up in 2007 as the youngest-ever individual to win New York City’s famed Nuyorican Poets Café grand slam champion title. Recognized globally ever since, Monet performed at the NAACP Pre-Inauguration Event for Barack Obama. She is heard frequently at celebrated venues all over the United States and abroad. No less than iconic performer Harry Belafonte has praised Monet as “the true definition of an artist.”

Fresh salads, hearty sandwiches, and tasty burritos – as well as thematic dinner specials – are available from Lickety Split before and during the show. A full bar serves Berkshire Brewing Company beers and Berkshire Mountain Distillery spirits. Tickets are $10 for students, $12 in advance, $18 day of, and $22 for preferred seating. Members receive a 10% discount.

Tickets for all events are available through the MASS MoCA box office located on Marshall Street in North Adams, open 11am – 5pm Wednesdays through Mondays; closed Tuesdays through spring 2015.
