‘The Problem Persists’ by Pops Peterson

POPS PETERSON REINVENTS ROCKWELL for SOHN FINE ART GALLERY EXHIBITION

(LENOX, Mass.) – Reinventing Rockwell, a solo show featuring works by Pops Peterson, reinterprets Norman Rockwell’s artwork with contemporary views on politics, social issues, and technology. The exhibition is on view at Sohn Fine Art Gallery now through Sunday, March 15, with a reception on Saturday, March 7, 2015, from 4 to 6:30 pm. Reimagining Norman Rockwell’s imagery and social issues in the 21st Century, Peterson explores roles of gender, ethnicities, sexuality and attitude. Using his surrounding environment in the Berkshires, as Rockwell did, Peterson presents pious, joyful and controversial imagery that effectively evokes the evolution of society from the 1940s and ‘50s to the current day.

GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING ENSEMBLE ROOMFUL OF TEETH to PERFORM at WILLIAMS

(WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.) – Grammy Award-winning ensemble Roomful of Teeth will perform in Thompson Memorial Chapel on the Williams College campus on Friday, February 13, at 8pm. The group will present a master class along with Williams music students on Thursday, February 12 at 4:15 pm in Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall. Both events are free and open to the public. Friday night’s concert features the combined voices of Roomful of Teeth and the Williams Concert Choir, presenting the world premiere of William Brittelle’s “Psychedelics.”

BARRINGTON STAGE KICKS OFF 10X10 NEW PLAY FESTIVAL

(PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – Barrington Stage Company’s fourth annual 10X10 New Play Festival – featuring ten, 10-minute plays, as part of the annual 10X10 Upstreet Arts Festival in Pittsfield – kicks off on Thursday, February 12, and runs through Sunday, March 1. Playwrights represented include Chris Newbound, Emily Taplin Boyd, Christopher Innvar, and Kelly Younger. Directors for the 10X10 New Play Festival are BSC artistic director Julianne Boyd and artistic associate and director of new play development Stephanie Yankwitt.

SO PERCUSSION and GREY MCMURRAY JOIN FORCES for ‘WHERE (WE) LIVE’ at BARD

(ANNANDALE-on-HUDSON, N.Y.) — Where (we) Live, a multimedia theatrical performance featuring new-music ensemble So Percussion and guitarist Grey McMurray, takes place in the LUMA Theater of the Fisher Center at Bard College on Saturday, February 14, at 7:30pm and Sunday, February 15, at 3pm. The performance blends music, video, and storytelling in a theatrical creation that reflects on notions of community and home. The performances, directed by Ain Gordon, feature guitarist Grey McMurray, choreographer Emily Johnson, and guest artists Aron Sanchez and Caroline Wallner.

WAM THEATRE’S ‘EMILIE’ CONCLUDES THREE NIGHT TOUR THROUGH REGION in PITTSFIELD

(LENOX, Mass.) – WAM Theatre’s production of “Emilie: La Marquise Du Chatelet Defends Her Life Tonight” by Lauren Gunderson will make the rounds of three locations in the Berkshires and the Capital Region of New York, reviving this critically acclaimed enhanced staged reading this week, beginning Tuesday, February 10, at 7:30 pm, at the ’62 Center at Williams College; continuing in the Performing Arts Center at State University at Albany on Thursday, February 12, at 7:30 pm; and concluding its three-night run at Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield on Friday, February 13, at 7:30 pm, as part of the Pittsfield 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival. This enhanced staged reading will feature some audio and visual elements from the original production.
