(HUDSON, N.Y.) – New-folk singer-songwriters Richard Shindell and Lucy Kaplansky, longtime friends and collaborators, will bring their new duo effort, the Pine Hill Project – devoted to performing the music of their contemporaries – to Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, March 14, at 9pm. Americana icon and multi-instrumentalist Larry Campbell, who produced the duo’s upcoming album, “Tomorrow You’re Going,” will warm up the crowd in a duo setting with his wife and musical partner, Teresa Williams, before leading the Pine Hill Project band, which includes bassist Byron Isaacs and drummer Justin Guip.

In addition to their critically acclaimed solo albums and performances – both heard many times at Helsinki – Kaplansky and Shindell have been singing together for a quarter-century in various outfits. In the Pine Hill Project, they devote their vocal and interpretive talents to a who’s who of rootsy, contemporary songwriters, including by Greg Brown, Gillian Welch, and Dave Carter. But they don’t limit themselves to “folk” music – they explore common ground with tunes by Nick Lowe, Little Feat, and U2, rendering them with the same sort of organic Americana approach they bring to everything they touch.
