(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Hudson’s own Buffalo Stack brings its bluesy brand of roots-rock to Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, April 25, at 9pm.

With slide blues guitar, gospel organ chords, New Orleans-style horns, and group harmonies, bluesy roots-rockers Buffalo Stack can’t help but recall Woodstock heroes the Band. In fact, it was at Levon Helm’s barn in Woodstock that husband-and-wife Andy and Tania Stack (a Grammy and Juno award- winning fiddle player) of Hudson met the musicians who would soon join them to become Buffalo Stack.

Andy and Tania originally met in New York City, where she had just arrived from Nashville at a time when Andy was thinking of moving to New Orleans. Instead, the two got married, formed a musical duo called the Stacks, and like all smart musicians do, moved to Hudson.

One night in nearby Woodstock at the Levon Helm’s Ramble, they heard drummer Lee Falco, bassist Brandon Morrison and guitarist Connor Kennedy tearing it up. The five became fast friends and began playing music together, and before they knew it, they had given birth to a band and an eponymous debut album, which ranges from rootsy country-rock ballads to New Orleans-inflected jazzy blues to White Stripes/Black Keys-like hard rock.
