Double Bill of Daddy Long Legs’ Blues-Punk and Schoemer Formation’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Poetry Headed to Half Moon

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – New York blues-punk kings Daddy Long Legs with Hudson’s own spoken-word rock group the Schoemer Formation perform at the Half Moon on Friday, May 29, 2015, at 9pm.

Daddy Long Legs, one of most exciting groups of the current roots and blues revolution, is named for its harp-blowing, blues-bellowing front man, Brian Hurd—a blues hollerer who blurs any definition by age or color. He growls, barks, yelps, and wails without sounding like an imitation of anyone or anything. Guitarist Murat Akturk cranks out everything from powerhouse country-blues rhythms to multi-stringed slide riffs that bump and grind up against Hurd’s harp. Drummer Josh Styles keeps it simple and right on, sometimes locking in with his bandmates for a triple-punch deep-as-Hell-itself groove; other times head-down and leading the charge himself, slamming shovelfuls of coal into the beast.

The Schoemer Formation is a Hudson Valley-based spoken word/music project comprised of author Karen Schoemer (words, vocals) and underground rock ’n’ roll legends “Wreckless” Eric Goulden (bass guitar, electric fuzz bass) and “Mod Housewife” Amy Rigby (keyboards, electric guitar). The trio formed in early 2014 and has been wowing and waking unsuspecting patrons with a combination of big riffs and poetic lyrics in the tradition of the Doors, Suicide, and Two Lone Swordsmen ever since.

Admission is $5 at the door.
