(GLENFORD, N.Y.) – The chamber-folk ensemble Mamalama and the experimental vocal duo of Fredo Viola and Luis Mojica plus special guests including singer/cellist Melora Creager of Rasputina and singer/multi-instrumentalist Ryder Cooley will perform in the HVSS Music Night series at Hudson Valley Sudbury School (210 Old Route 28, 203-592-0537) on Friday, May 29, at 7pm.

With its intoxicating acoustic fabric of harp, violin, cello, hammered dulcimer, mandolin, flutes, frame drums, and ethereal voices, Mamalama weaves a vibrant tapestry of European folk and classical, Renaissance/medieval music, psychedelia, modern minimalism, world music, and mystical, image-rich poetry. Listeners often recall the music of Philip Glass and Kate Bush, with undertones of Hildegard of Bingen and early polyphonic music.

Fredo Viola is an American singer and audio-visual artist whose debut record, “The Turn,” was released to great critical acclaim in France and the UK and was named as #2 Album of the Year by Les Inrockuptiples and #4 by Le
