(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Acoustic trio Quiet In The Head, the ongoing musical project of guitarist Seamus Maynard, violinist Jonathan Talbott and cellist Jonah Thomas, performs at Spotty Dog Books & Ale (440 Warren St.) on Friday, June 5, 2015, at 8pm.

The trio’s original acoustic music has evolved over many years of playing together and is always an exploration of texture and melody. There are echoes of familiar influences such as tango, Middle Eastern and Eastern European gypsy music, but ultimately the musicians search far and wide for new sounds.

Improvisation plays a large part in Quiet In The Head’s compositions, but the core of the music is through-composed. Significant instrumental technique never overshadows the inherent musicality, beauty, and sometimes strangeness of the soundscapes created by the trio. They are occasionally joined by guest musicians including Otto Hauser on drums and Terence Murren on upright bass.
