Anna Rogovoy Named Choreographer at BCP

(HOUSATONIC, Mass.) – The multi-talented Anna P. Rogovoy will be a guest choreographer for the Berkshire Choreography Project’s 2015 Residency at Berkshire Pulse. The two-week residency takes place August 10-22, 2015. There will be two informal showings of the work produced during the residency, on August 21 at 7pm and on August 22 at 6:30pm. These will be free of charge and open to the public.

Anna Rogovoy is a Brooklyn-based dancer, choreographer, and arts administrator. Her work has been presented in NYC at The Tank and in upstate New York at the Cocoon Theatre. She currently performs with Daniel Roberts and Dancers (NY City Center Studios, Movement Research at Eden’s Expressway, Bennington College) and has appeared with Sarah Matusek/Small Claims Court and Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion.

Anna holds a B.A. from Bennington College, where she studied under and performed work by Terry Creach, Dana Reitz, and Susan Sgorbati, among others. She has also studied with Janet Panetta, Gwen Welliver, and members of the Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv, Israel, where she spent six weeks studying gaga at the Suzanne Dellal Centre.

A Massachusetts native, Anna grew up training and dancing with the Albany Berkshire Ballet at their affiliate school, Cantarella. She performed in The Nutcracker with the ABB for several seasons (Spanish Divertissement, Waltz of the Snowflakes, Waltz of the Flowers, Tipsy Parlor Maid).

Anna is currently the company and communications manager of Michelle Dorrance / Dorrance Dance, a tap dance company under the direction of multi-award-winning choreographer and performer Michelle Dorrance.

Berkshire Choreography Project is a fledgling arts organization dedicated to developing new works for dance, especially works that involve collaborations with other artists, such as painters, writers, and composers. BCP educates the community about the world of dance through workshops, interactive performances, and opportunities for aspiring artists to work with experienced professionals.
