MOTT THE HOOPLE’s IAN HUNTER to BRING VINTAGE GLAM-ROCK to HELSINKI HUDSON

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Mott the Hoople lead singer and pianist Ian Hunter brings his current group, the Rant Band, to Club Helsinki Hudson on Saturday, August 29, at 9pm. As leader of 1970s British rock legends Mott the Hoople and a hugely influential solo artist, Hunter is widely revered as one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most compelling and influential performers, as well as one of its most articulate songwriters. Hunter penned such immortal rock anthems as “All the Way From Memphis,” “Once Bitten, Twice Shy,” and “Cleveland Rocks,” and had a huge yet with the David Bowie-penned “All The Young Dudes.”

RESIDENT COMPANY PARSONS DANCE PERFORMS at PS21

(CHATHAM, N.Y.) – As part of a three-week long residency at PS21, Parsons Dance Company will perform on Friday and Saturday, August 28-29, at 8pm. The residency marks the tenth season that Parsons Dance has been at PS21, where the ensemble is making use of PS21’s facilities to develop new dance works, teach dance classes, offer open rehearsals, and create a community event.

GROUP EXHIBITION of WORKS on PAPER at CARRIE HADDAD GALLERY

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Works on paper by a dozen regional artists will go on view in “Paper,” a witty and fun group exhibition that opens at Carrie Haddad Gallery on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, and remains on view through October 4. There will be a reception for the artists on Sunday, August 30, from 2 to 4pm. Artists represented in the exhibition include Ellen Nieves, David Dew Bruner, Mindy McDaniel, James Meyer, Louise Laplante, Matthew Hopkins, Edward Avedisian, William Bond Walker, Anne Francey, Mark Beard, and Gabriel de la Portilla.

COMIC ACTOR EDDIE IZZARD and BROADWAY STAR IDINA MENZEL HEAD to TANGLEWOOD

(LENOX, Mass.) – English comic actor Eddie Izzard and Tony Award-winning vocalist Idina Menzel perform at Tanglewood on Thursday, August 27, and Saturday, August 29, respectively, at 7 p.m. Izzard is known for bizarre, tangential, and absurd comic narratives rooted in creativity and wit. Menzel created the role of Maureen Johnson in “Rent” and is perhaps best  known for her role as Elphaba in “Wicked,” as well as her television work on the TV show “Glee.”
