There is gross hypocrisy and greed with large food and beverage corporations selling billions of dollars of organic and “natural food” on the one hand, while on the other hand bankrolling the food industry opposition to non-GMO labeling.

Some of these organic “traitor brands” that you will likely find at your neighborhood food co-op or natural market or specialty health food store include the following (corporate owners in parentheses):

 

Kashi, Bear Naked, Morningstar Farms (Kellogg’s)

Muir Glen, Cascadian Farm, Larabar (General Mills)

Horizon, Silk, White Wave (Dean Foods)

R.W. Knudsen, Santa Cruz Organic (Smucker’s)

Honest Tea, Odwalla (Coca-Cola)

“O” Organics (Safeway)

Boca Burgers; Back to Nature (Kraft)

Orville Redenbacher’s Organic, Hunt’s Organic, Lightlife (Con-Agra)

Naked Juice, Tostito’s Organic, Tropicana Organic (PepsiCo)

All of these companies are profiting from the sale of billions of dollars of their proprietary organic and “natural” food brands while at the same time funneling large sums of money to defeat non-GMO labeling legislation across the country.

Please ask your food co-op to stop carrying these brands. And please let your independent specialty grocers know that you care about food safety and non-GMO labeling.
