(LENOX, Mass.) – Writer-editor Cathi Hanauer will discuss the new book, “The Bitch is Back: Older, Wiser, and Getting Happier,” a collection of essays by writers including Kate Christensen, Sarah Crichton, Debora Spar, Ann Hood, Veronica Chambers, and Hanauer herself, at The Mount on Sunday, November 13, at 2pm, in the Drawing Room of the Main House

Hanauer started this project over 15 years ago, when she was editing the New York Times bestseller “The Bitch in the House: 26 Women Tell the Truth about Sex, Solitude, Work, Motherhood, and Marriage.” The essays in “The Bitch in the House” chronicled the face of womanhood at the beginning of a new millennium.

Now, Hanauer has compiled a new batch of passionate, enlightened, often hilarious pieces that are less bitter and resentful, and more confident. This new collection includes both original and new contributors sharing their perspectives on love, sex, work, family, independence, body-image, health, and aging from an older, stronger, and wiser perspective. With great wit and insight, Hanauer will discuss how the essays of “The Bitch is Back” showcase women dealing with getting (or not getting) what they want out of life.

bitchisback-hc-cCathi Hanauer is the author of three novels — “My Sister’s Bones,” “Sweet Ruin,” and “Gone.” A former columnist for Glamour, Mademoiselle, and Seventeen, she has written for the New York Times, Elle, Self, Real Simple, and other magazines. She lives in Northampton, Mass., with her husband, New York Times “Modern Love” editor Daniel Jones, and their daughter and son.

Tickets are $8 for Mount members, and $10 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased online at The Mount or by calling 413-551-5100.
