(KINGSTON, N.Y.) – Nine-time Grammy Award-winner Norah Jones brings her “Day Breaks” tour, featuring music from her jazzy, recently released sixth album by that name, to UPAC on Monday, November 28, at 8pm. After several albums that saw Jones mining Americana, pop, and electronic music, on “Day Breaks” she returns to the sort of piano-based jazz sound that propelled her into the stratosphere with her surprise 2002 debut smash, “Come Away With Me.”

“Come Away With Me” was a huge critical and commercial success, eventually hitting number one on the Billboard Charts before earning five Grammy Awards for, amongst others, Album and Record of the Year. The success of her follow-up, “Feels Like Home,” earned Jones not only a place atop the Billboard charts once again but a spot on Time Magazine’s list of “Most Influential People of 2004.” And, of course, it picked up a few more Grammy Awards along the way.

“Day Breaks,” her stunning sixth solo album, is a kindred spirit to the singer’s breakout debut, “Come Away With Me,” and finds Norah returning to the piano and her roots. The album features jazz luminaries including Blue Note label-mates saxophonist Wayne Shorter, organist Dr. Lonnie Smith, and drummer Brian Blade, on a 12-song set that presents nine new originals alongside covers of songs by Horace Silver, Duke Ellington, and Neil Young.
