Stephen Bluhm and Brian Dewan Headline TSL’s ‘Parking Lot Live!’

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Innovative regional musical artists Stephen Bluhm and Brian Dewan headline the Parking Lot Live! program at Time & Space Limited (TSL) on Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25, at 8pm. The outdoor concert in TSL’s 20,000-sq.-ft. parking lot will be followed by a screening of Dewan’s filmstrip entitled “The Tide Waits for No Man.”

Stephen Bluhm charismatically charms audiences with finely crafted, whimsical pop music and huge stage presence to boot. Stephen has an endless ability to dream up unexpected but super catchy melodies and words, employing influences from 1980s synth pop to musical theater to orchestral music. He even loves to have fun on stage, eschewing the too-cool vibe that is de rigueur in contemporary performance.

Brian Dewan is a visual artist and musician living in Catskill. He will perform songs ancient and modern with accordion or autoharp accompaniment. Dewan will project a filmstrip entitled “The Tide Waits For No Man” and pepper the evening with some poetry as well.

A reviewer recently wrote of Bluhm: “I will never forget the first time I saw Stephen Bluhm perform. It was one of those ‘wow’ moments that stick with you. He did a short set opening for Future Bible Heroes at Helsinki Hudson. He appeared by himself, backed by a boombox (aha, I thought – very David Byrne). But the sound that came out of his mouth, and the big music that he had behind him – I thought, why is this incredible entertainer just a shy guy who you often see around town if you spend any time walking up and down Warren Street? One of the things I love about Stephen is how he transforms from a relatively self-effacing, modest man-about-town into a guy who was seemingly born to command a stage.”

Among his favorite artists Bluhm counts Burt Bacharach, the Beach Boys, Erasure, ABBA, and Stephen Sondheim.
