Sandra Bernhard, Kenny Rogers, Arlo Guthrie Headline Fall Season at Colonial

(PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – Comedian Sandra Bernhard, country singer Kenny Rogers, and folksinger Arlo Guthrie headline the fall season at the Colonial Theatre. The venue will also feature theatrical performances, family shows, jazz, rock, a Made in the Berkshires festival, and musical performances in its nightclub-style lobby, The Garage.

Rogers, known for such hits as “The Gambler,” “Lady,” “Lucille,” “Coward Of The County,” “She Believes in Me,” and “Islands in the Stream” (with Dolly Parton), performs on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at 8p.m.

Actress, singer and comedian Sandra Bernhard brings her “I Love Being Me, Don’t You?” tour to the Colonial on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 8p.m. Bernhard kept a sold-out audience at Club Helsinki Hudson rapt for nearly two non-stop hours in a warmup performance for this tour, which includes political and cultural commentary as well as Bernhard’s considerable musical talents, in August.

The Berkshires’ own Arlo Guthrie brings his annual Thanksgiving-time concert to the Colonial on Friday, November 16, 2012, at 8p.m. This year’s solo program is titled “Here Comes The Kid: A Tribute To Woody Guthrie’s 100th Birthday,” in honor of his legendary father’s centennial.

Other programs this fall at the Colonial include Made in the Berkshires, a locally-grown festival of new works featuring cutting-edge theatre, live music, film, short stories and dance, from October 5 to October 7. Performances will also be held at the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge.

New England-based roots-rock outfit Barefoot Truth brings its farewell tour to the Colonial on Friday, October 12, 2012, at 8pm. The New England Jazz Ensemble with guest artists Ali Ryerson on flute and jazz/blues vocalist Giacomo Gates performs on Saturday, October 13, at 8pm as part of the Pittsfield CityJazz Festival.

Bluesman Albert Cummings, the Berkshires’ answer to Stevie Ray Vaughan, celebrates the release of his new album, No Regrets – his most personal work so far – on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 8pm.

Ronan Tynan, former member of the Irish Tenors and a notorious anti-Semite who was banned from Yankee Stadium due to his disparaging comments about Jews, performs on Saturday, November 3, 2012.

Singer-songwriter Matt Cusson performs on Friday, November 9, 2012, at 8pm, and Gaia Roots World Music and Dance Ensemble appears on Wednesday, November 28, at 8pm.

The Colonial presents its annual staging of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol from December 15 to December 30.
