John Andrews Restaurant Hosts Railroad Street Youth Project Spring Kickoff

RSYP at John Andrews(SOUTH EGREMONT, Mass.) – John Andrews: A Farmhouse Restaurant will celebrate the work of young chefs in the Railroad Street Youth Project’s (RSYP) Culinary Apprenticeship Program with a “Farm to Spring Table” Culinary Dinner and Fundraiser on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 5:30pm.

Railroad Street Youth Project, a community-based nonprofit, provides programs, support services and a drop-in center for teens and young adults in South County. The Railroad Street Apprenticeship Program (RAP), launched in 2006, was designed to match the inspirations of young people to the resources of the community providing valuable work skills and experience.

Chef-owner and RAP mentor Dan Smith of John Andrews will host Railroad Street’s celebration kickoff featuring a five-course seasonal tasting menu selected, prepared and presented by RSYP young chefs. The evening will include a reception, raffle and student certificate presentation. Tickets for the fundraiser dinner are $100 per person.

In addition to the dinner, a special Jazz Brunch at The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge on Sunday, April 28, 2013, and a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Rubi’s in Great Barrington will support RSYP’s efforts. John Andrews: A Farmhouse Restaurant specializes in regional American cuisine featuring farms and food artisans in the Berkshires and Hudson Valley. A restaurant for all seasons, the food is crafted by chef-owner Dan Smith and his team. Guests enjoy the cozy fireplace in winter months and, in summer outdoor seating is available on the patio. John Andrews offers a full cocktail bar and a more casual bar menu. A “Featured Farm Prix Fixe” three-course menu is offered year-round on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week. Located at 224 Hillsdale Road/Route 23 in South Egremont, John Andrews serves dinner Thursday through Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Wednesday evenings.
