(BECKET, Mass.) – Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion will perform its evening-length dance piece, Pavement, about the decline of inner-city black neighborhoods in Pittsburgh, in the Doris Duke Theatre at Jacob’s Pillow from Wednesday, August 21, through Sunday, August 25, 2013. The diverse music used in the work range from classical greats such as Johann Christian Bach and Antonio Vivaldi to electronic music from Hudson Mohawke and blues from Donny Hathaway.

(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – Williamstown resident Jeff Kleiser supervised 800 artists for over two years to create the visual effects for science-fiction superhero Bollywood film, Ra.One, which will be shown at MASS MoCA on the largest movie screen in New England on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at 8pm. Over 125 of the most complex shots were produced on MASS MoCA’s campus, where Kleiser’s Sythespian Studios is a long-time creative tenant.

(CHATHAM, N.Y.) – Canadian dance company RUBBERBANDance Group brings its fusion of hip-hop, ballet and modern dance to PS21: Performance Spaces for the 21st Century on Friday and Saturday, August 23 and 24, 2013, at 8pm. The ensemble will perform Gravity of Center, which follows the journey of five dancers representing a family, a nomadic tribe or an entire people, as they interweave, fight, crave and hustle. The dance features original music by Canadian Jasper “DJ Lil Jaz” Gahunia, whose piano compositions are partnered with hip hop production and turntablist techniques.

(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – MASS MoCA screens Airplane!, one of the most iconic comedies in American movie history, at Harriman-West Airport in North Adams on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 8pm. Already boasting the largest movie screen in New England at the center of its renovated 19th-century factory campus, the museum takes over an old airplane hangar for one night each year, projecting flight-themed film onto an even larger 90′ x 22′ hangar door.
