IBM Selectric(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – A series of four one-acts called Q W E R T Y; Typewriter Plays by Joan Ackermann receives its world premiere staging at Mixed Company beginning Thursday, October 3, 2013, and running Thursdays through Sundays at 8pm through Sunday, October 27.

“Q W E R T Y” is comprised of four one-acts that delve into the charms, strengths and beauty of manual typewriters.  “Typewriters engage the mind in a whole different way,” says Ackermann, who likes to write on an old IBM Selectric and a Royal manual as well as her laptop.  Communication, the lost art of letter writing, voice and expression, and some of the ramifications of modern technology are some of the themes explored in the one-acts.
