WALTER ‘WOLFMAN’ WASHINGTON HEADLINES BLUES & FUNK FEST at MCLA
(NORTH ADAMS, Mass.) – Walter “Wolfman” Washington, the New Orleans singer-guitarist who has his own unique blend of blues-based R&B and funk, headlines this year’s two-day Blues and Funk Festival at MCLA, on Saturday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Venable Gymnasium. Boston-based soul singer-songwriter Jesse Dee opens the festival on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 7:30pm. Warming up the crowd for Washington on Saturday night are Berkshire trio T-Bone Daddy and the MCLA Jazz Band. Opening for Dee on Friday night will be the Berkshire’s own Rebel Alliance and MCLA’s Jazz Band.
DRAMATIC STAGING of SUPREME COURT NUDITY CASE COMING to ’62 CENTER
(WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.) – Arguendo, a dramatic staging of the 1991 Supreme Court case Barnes v. Glen Theatre, Inc., which debated the legality of nude dancing, will be brought to life by Elevator Repair Service (ERS) at the ’62 Center for Theatre and Dance at Williams College on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 8pm. Arguendo is a staging of Barnes v. Glen’s entire oral argument, verbatim, interspersed with bits of real interviews with the justices, the lawyers, and an exotic dancer who traveled all the way from the Déja Vu Club in Saginaw, Mich., to listen to the argument at the Supreme Court in Washington D.C.
BERKSHIRE MUSEUM CELEBRATES the ART of COLLECTING
(PITTSFIELD, Mass.) ? Collections of rare motorcycles, wind-up toys, exotic insects, vintage guitars, antique toasters, and Pez dispensers among other artifacts are on display at Berkshire Museum as part of the exhibition Berkshire Collects, which runs through May 11, 2014. The exhibit is intended to showcase Berkshire County residents’ passionate pursuit of every imaginable kind of object and memorabilia. More than 40 collections are included in the exhibit, which salutes the long and diverse tradition of collecting that built the Berkshire Museum itself 110 years ago.
