Holly Williams Brings Americana Lineage to Club Helsinki Hudson

Holly Williams (HUDSON, N.Y.) – Singer-songwriter Holly Williams, a scion of one of America’s first families of Americana music, brings her unique blend of country, folk and rock to Club Helsinki Hudson on Friday, February 21, at 9pm. The granddaughter of the legendary country singer-songwriter Hank Williams and daughter of country star Hank Williams Jr., the 32-year-old Holly Williams has established a reputation in her own right as a convincing singer and songwriter.

Williams first gained musical success in Europe, where she toured relentlessly in 2003 and 2004. A near-fatal auto accident derailed her career in 2006, but her second album, released in 2009, garnered her great critical acclaim. In 2011, she contributed to the Bob Dylan-produced Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams, along with artists including Jack White, Norah Jones, Merle Haggard and Lucinda Williams, on which artists completed and recorded unfinished songs left behind by her grandfather.

Williams’s latest album, The Highway, co-produced by Williams and Charlie Peacock (The Civil Wars) was released last February. She wrote or co-wrote every song on the album, which includes guest vocals by Dierks Bentley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jackson Browne and Jakob Dylan, who shares with Williams the gift and burden of a weighty Americana music legacy. Williams has recently warmed up crowds for Sheryl Crow, John Prine and Loretta Lynn, demonstrating the breadth of her audience appeal.
