(GHENT, N.Y.) – New works by ten artists, including contemporary sculptures and innovative architecture projects, will be unveiled at the 2014 Season Opening of The Fields Sculpture Park & Architecture Omi at Omi International Arts Center on Saturday, June 14, 2014, from 1 to 5pm.
The day’s events – including two unique and site-specific performances, one by robbinschilds (1-5 PM) and one by choreographer Silas Riener with fellow Merce Cunningham Dance Company alumni and the composer Loren Dempster (3-5 PM) as part of the inaguration of the piece Species Niches by Harrison Atelier — are free and open to the public. Summertime refreshments will be offered throughout the day and activities include hayrides and art workshops for all ages.
Artists whose work is featured in the installation include Afruz Amighi, Kim Beck, Denise Hoffman Brandt, Rob Fischer, Haresh Lalvani, Harrison Atelier, Celeste Roberge, Alison Saar, Alex Schweder, and Stephen Westfall.
Art Omi will also host a Cocktail Party & Preview on Friday, June 13, at 6:30pm, with a talk by exhibiting artist Stephen Westfall at 7:30pm and other exhibiting architects of Architecture Omi. Tickets are $25 for nonmembers & free for members.
This year’s exhibition continues Omi’s history of presenting world-class art amongst over 120 acres of rolling farmland, wetlands and wooded areas, offering the unique possibility to experience a wide range of large-scale works in a singular outdoor environment.
