‘REPO MAN’ DIRECTOR ALEX COX to BE FETED at TWO-DAY FILM FESTIVAL at BASILICA HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Cult movie director Alex Cox will be present for BasilicaScope, a weekend-long film festival dedicated to the British director’s works, including cult classics “Repo Man,” “Straight to Hell Returns,” and “Walker,” at Basilica Hudson on Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20. In the 1980s, visionary filmmaker Cox masterfully used pinpoint satire and a rambunctious stable of actors to illuminate the sleazy politics of the era. Cox will be live in Hudson for the Festival.

WEEKEND CELEBRATION of JOHN CAGE WORKS at BARD
(ANNANDALE-on-HUDSON, N.Y.) – A rare performance of John Cage’s “The Ten Thousand Things” and a performance of Cage’s “We Are All Going in Different Directions” by So Percussion will be featured as part of a weekend-long celebration of the avant-garde composer’s legacy at the Fisher Center at Bard College on Saturday and Sunday, September 20 and 21.
BUFFALO STACK BRINGS BLUESY ROOTS-ROCK to HELSINKI HUDSON
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Having just released their eponymous debut album, Hudson’s own Buffalo Stack brings its bluesy brand of roots-rock to Club Helsinki Hudson on Friday, September 19, at 9pm. With slide blues guitar, gospel organ chords, New Orleans-style horns, and group harmonies, Buffalo Stack can’t help but recall Woodstock heroes the Band.

INEXPLICABLE PORTRAITS at LIMNER GALLERY
(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Strange Figurations, featuring works by 25 “inexplicable” artists, is on display at Limner Gallery through Saturday, October 4. The exhibition is meant to focus viewers’ attention on unusual and inexplicable figurative art forms.

(HUDSON, N.Y.) – “Playful,” a new exhibit featuring new fresco secco art by Phyllis Palmer, Play-Doh constructions by new media artist Fernando Orellana, and wooden wall sculpture by Stephen Walling, will be on view at Carrie Haddad Gallery through Sunday, September 21.
