(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Award-winning writer and humorist Tim Federle, author of novelty cocktail recipe books “Hickory Daiquiri Dock” and “Tequila Mockingbird,” will entertain at Café Le Perche on Thursday, February 5, 2015, from 6 to 8pm, in an event sponsored by and benefiting the Campaign for the New Hudson Area Library. The restaurant will offer a selection of Federle’s recipes for sale to guests, and Spotty Dog Books and Ale will be on hand with a selection of Federle’s books for sale. The event itself is free, with 20% of the proceeds from all book and cocktail sales going to support the Campaign.

Federle says he spent “hours of grueling research” while putting together his two most recent books. “Hickory Daiquiri Dock” is a drinks guide for new (and gently used) parents. “Tequila Mockingbird” offers cocktail recipes for the literary obsessed. They both combine classics with witty humor and delicious drink recipes.

The author, an inveterate quipper, calls himself “a pun-slinging guru of drinking.” The Atlantic says he talks about his books as communal experiences – – sharing laughs while making drinks together. Wordplay is his forte and should be much on display during the informal evening of storytelling over cocktails.

Federle has received several awards for his cocktail books including “#1 Cookbook of 2013” on Goodreads. His book “Five, Six, Seven, Nate!,” the sequel to “Better Nate Than Ever,” was named an American Booksellers Association Best Children’s Book of 2014.

All this, and Federle is actually a former Broadway dancer, having appeared in the original Broadway cast of “The Little Mermaid” and in the Bernadette Peters revival of “Gypsy.” He was a replacement cast member in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and worked on the resident choreographic staff of “Billy Elliot the Musical.”

There is no admission fee for the party, but those who plan on attending are asked to RSVP to the Library via e-mail at info@HudsonAreaLibrary.org or by calling 518.828.1792.

Drinks and fun will benefit the Library from 6 pm until 8. Then, Café Le Perche, normally closed on Thursdays during the winter months, will stay open for dinner at the conclusion of the party – offering both standard bistro fare as well as 2-3 additional specials chosen especially for this event. Dinner reservations are required and must be made at the restaurant or by calling 518. 822.1850.
