(HUDSON, N.Y.) – Ohio-based folk-Americana group Over the Rhine brings its glistening harmonies and wistful ballads to Club Helsinki Hudson on Friday, April 17, at 9pm. Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist are the core of Over the Rhine, named after the Cincinnati neighborhood from which they hail.

Over the Rhine’s recent albums of moody, bluesy original folk, including “Meet Me at the Edge of the World” and “The Long Surrender,” have been produced by Grammy Award-winner Joe Henry. “The Long Surrender” contained a duet with Lucinda Williams on “Undamned,” and was named one of the year’s Top 50 Best Records by Paste Magazine.

The group’s members were variously inspired by Van Morrison, Charles Bukowski, Buddy Holly, old gospel hymns, the Great American Songbook, and the Civil War. Over the Rhine especially appeals to fans of Cowboy Junkies, with whom they have toured as “adjunct” members. They have also shared stages with Bob Dylan, John Prine, Adrian Belew, Squeeze, Ani DiFranco, My Morning Jacket, and Hem.

For reservations in The Restaurant or in the club call 518.828.4800.
