(PITTSFIELD, Mass.) – Boston-based folk-rock collective Session Americana kicks off the 2015 Mr. Finn’s Cabaret season at Barrington Stage Company (BSC) on Sunday, May 17, and Monday, May 18, at 8pm. A kind of all-star supergroup of Boston-based roots-music talent, the core of the band includes singer-songwriter Ry Cavanaugh, drummer Billy Beard (Patty Griffin), multi-instrumentalist Dinty Child, and Jim Fitting, who played mouth harp for The The.

Other musicians who sometimes perform with the group include bassist Kimon Kirk (Aimee Mann), Zach Hichman (Josh Ritter), Laura Cortese, fiddler Adam Moss, mandolinist Jimmy Ryan (Blood Oranges, Morphine), and Duke Levine (J Geils Band).

The group is known for its freewheeling shows that mostly feature songs by Boston’s rich and fertile group of songwriters.

Named for William Finn, the two-time Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist of Falsettos and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Artistic Producer of BSC’s Musical Theatre Lab, Mr. Finn’s Cabaret celebrates its third season with an eclectic mix of performers from May through October as part of Barrington Stage Company’s 2015 Season. Mr. Finn’s Cabaret comfortably seats 99 patrons and is located on the lower level of the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden Street, Pittsfield.

Tickets for Session Americana are $25 by calling (413) 236-8888, stopping by the BSC Box Office at 30 Union Street or online at Barrington Stage Company (BSC). Reserved seating. Doors open 45 minutes prior to show.
