(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) — Soprano Maria Valdes and tenor Alex McKissick will perform arias and duets written throughout Mozart’s career in “Mid-Winter Mozart,” a presentation of Berkshire Opera Festival (BOF) at St. James Place on Sunday, March 27, at 4pm. The vocalists will be accompanied by pianist Noah Palmer.

 

The festival’s inaugural winter concert will explore the life and career of one of the world’s greatest composers, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, in anticipation of BOF’s 2022 mainstage opera, Don Giovanni.

 

Hosted by BOF cofounder and artistic director Brian Garman, this special concert will range from earlier, lesser-known works, such as La Finta Semplice (written when he was only 12 years old) to later masterpieces, such as The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute — as well as selections from Mozart’s three dozen art songs.

“One of the world’s true musical titans, the incomparable Mozart left an indelible mark on opera during his short life. His greatest works still stand today as ideals of music and theater,” says Garman. “I’m pleased to showcase these outstanding artists in this program that is sure to delight Mozart lovers, and perhaps create some new devotees as well.”
