(GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.) – WBCR-LP, the Great Barrington-based community radio station, is holding a bourbon-tasting fundraiser at the Castle Street Café on Saturday, March 24, 2012, from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will kick off WBCR-LP’s capital campaign to raise at least $50,000 to fund the station’s conversion from low-power to full-power, a move that will increase the station’s range to cover much of the Southern Berkshires and Columbia County in New York State.

A variety of high-quality bourbons will be donated by event sponsors Domaney’s Liquors and Fine Wine and Berkshire Mountain Distillers. Hearty hors d’oeuvres will be served by event sponsor Castle Street Café. Tickets are $25 (21 and over) and are available at Domaney’s Liquors and the Castle Street Café.

Founded in 2004, WBCR-LP, is an all-volunteer listener-supported community radio station dedicated to citizen access to the airwaves. It broadcasts out of Great Barrington at 97.7 FM and streams on the Internet at WBCR-LP. Each week, dozens of local programmers present over 80 locally-produced or sponsored radio programs.

WBCR-LP seeks to create a forum to educate and entertain the community by offering a broad mix of cultural programming and views which reflect the diversity of the local and world community, promoting access for under-represented voices and providing an opportunity for members of the public to produce their own programming.
